Regional Development Australia Tropical North (RDATN) is seeking a values-driven, strategic leader to serve as its next Chief Executive Officer, guiding a small but high-performing team and working closely with a dedicated Board of nine community volunteer members from across local government, business, academia and the community sector.

RDATN plays a critical role in shaping sustainable economic growth and regional development outcomes across Far North Queensland. With coverage from Cardwell to the Torres Strait and west to Croydon, our work links regional communities to national priorities, supports the Regional Investment Framework, and amplifies the region’s voice in government decision-making.

 

About the Role:
As CEO, you’ll lead strategic planning, regional engagement, and operational delivery—ensuring strong governance, financial oversight, and measurable impact. You’ll represent the region at state and national levels and champion the RDA Network Charter’s goals of inclusion, resilience, innovation, and sustainability.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of the RDATN strategic plan and annual business plan
  • Drive effective stakeholder engagement across all three levels of government and regional communities
  • Manage staff, projects, funding agreements, and compliance requirements
  • Champion regional priorities and identify funding or partnership opportunities
  • Ensure strong governance and organisational culture aligned with RDATN’s values: ICollaboration, Integrity, Sustainable Development, Respect, and Equity

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience in executive leadership, governance, and stakeholder engagement
  • Strategic thinking and strong analytical/problem-solving capability
  • Demonstrated understanding of regional development, public policy, and government relations
  • Experience managing teams, funding agreements, and driving performance outcomes
  • Desirable: qualifications in business, economic development, or similar
