Community invited to Cape York Region Package (CYRP) Stage 2 update in Cooktown
A community meeting will be held in Cooktown on November 14 to give an update on CYRP Stage 2 upgrade of the Peninsula Developmental Road (PDR) and community access roads.
Regional Development Australia Tropical North (RDATN) CEO Sonja Johnson and CYRP Taskforce Chairs Professor Hurriyet Babacan and Dr Allan Dale will join representatives from the Department of Transport and Main Roads for the open forum meeting at the Cooktown PCYC from 10.45am to 11.45am.
Ms Johnson said the $237.5 million Stage 2 upgrade consists of progressive sealing projects on the PDR and community access roads, and two new bridge structures.
“The program also will enable greater access across the Archer River with the construction of a new bridge and a southern approach to the bridge,” she said.
“Stage 2 is jointly funded by the Australian Government and the Queensland Government to upgrade priority land transport infrastructure on Cape York Peninsula.”
“RDA Tropical North is delighted with its continued involvement with this priority regional project, having worked with various stakeholders since 2014 to realise both Stage 1 and Stage 2 funding”, she said.
