$715 million + $298 million support packages for our airline industry….

The Government is providing initial support to the airline industry through an estimated $715 million package of relief from a range of taxes and Government charges.

A further $298 million of support has been announced for Australia’s regional airline network with applications opening and guidelines released for two new major initiatives to protect the sector during COVID-19.

These measures will support the aviation sector through an unprecedented period of disruption to international and domestic air travel.

The objective of the ‘Network Support Program‘ is to support critical air services to connect regional Australia to freight, medical testing, supplies and essential personnel according to the criteria in the Grant Guidelines.

The objective of the ‘Funding Assistance‘  program is to assist airlines operating services to regional and remote locations to continue to provide essential air links by providing financial cashflow assistance where required according to the criteria in the Grant Guidelines. The funding is a ‘last resort’ option when a range of other strategies to manage an airline’s financial position have been undertaken.
